Transformation - An Exhibition of the Imagination is opening November 4, 2016 at the Pennsylvania Center for Photography in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Noun: transformation [tranz-fur'mey-shun]
1. The act of changing in form, shape or appearance = translation
2. A qualitative change = shift, transmutation
But what is a transformed photograph? Transformations can mean altering reality, altering colors, shapes and forms, changing perspective or presenting an entirely personal view, created only in our imagination.
During a field trip, fine art and abstract photographer Dore' Vorum of Bucks County captured this unprocessed image of a waterfall.
While this is certainly a beautiful scene, you will be surprised that her favorite photograph of the day was the following image, photographed at the very same waterfall, under the very same lighting conditions but transforming her surroundings into her personal abstract representation of what she saw that day. This image is created in camera, well zoomed in on a small detail that mattered to Dore' that day.
Verb: alter [ol-tur]
1. Make different; cause a transformation = change, modify
2. Change or cause to change in character or composition
= to adapt, amend, modify, revise, rework, refine, transform
The Pennsylvania Center for Photography is looking forward to presenting an exhibition that pays tribute to the altered and transformed photograph from November 4 - 20, 2016.
